Summary/Abstract: The paper will focus on the study of the construction of lonely and isolated characters versus a dystopian world in the novels of great writer Dritëro Agolli. We will focus on two specific cases that are more specific to the topic at hand. In the novel "Deshtaku" we have the character (hero) who believes in the system but who is isolated from society because of the things and the people he knows and events he participated in or was part of. In the second case, in the novel "Naked Knight (Kalorësi Lakuriq)", the character is of a different type. He is not the passive man who is victimized by others but he is the person who, consciously, sacrifices himself to reveal the dystopian view of the world he is living in. Both characters are lonely persons, living isolated and differentiated from society. Their selfcreated loneliness, which is also created by others within the society, either because of their character or because of their thoughts, brings them into tragic situations of elimination and selfsacrifice. The construction of both characters is such that it closely similar to the construction of the tragic hero in Ancient Greek tragedy and classical tragedies. While in "Dështaku" (similar to Oedipus) the character is not aware of what expects him due to his tragic 'loneliness', in the novel "Kalorësi Lakuriq" (as in Hamlet) the character is fully aware of his tragic ‘fate’. In both cases Agolli uses such tools and techniques to build his characters which enable a reflection of the tragic fate that a 'lonely' and 'isolated' individual may experience in an apocalyptic society and how a totalitarian and dystopian society becomes an instrument that kills freedom, thought and the individual as concepts, but also that disables the physical and spiritual existence of the individual and freedom as a form of existence and as a psychological state.
