Summary/Abstract: The increase in fuel prices by the government of the Cameroonian Republic, dated February 2, 2024, made the front pages of twelve targeted Cameroonian newspapers. In the process of relaying said news, we detect various semiotic and pragmatic strategies which therefore open up to various significances. It is in view of this consideration that the problem of the involvement of newspapers in relaying economic news arises. The hypothesis is that we observe, in the front pages, a reconfiguration of the news based on linguistic signs and non-linguistic devices. Also, we observe a strong emergence of implicit meanings through which the journalist conceals irony, blame, praise and political recovery. The use of image semiotics (Martine Joly 1993 and 1994) and pragmatics as methods of constructing meaning allows us to achieve three results. First, it is proven that Semiopragmatics is a methodological approach allowing to approach the titling of basic referents. We then observe that the title of this economic news uses various sentence structures. Then, the spotlighting of the price increase is semiotized through latent or implicit and manifest content, thereby positioning the news at the intertwining of the real and the epideictic. Finally, there is a political recovery of the news and its recasting according to the editorial line of each media body.
