Summary/Abstract: Park Chung-hee seized power through a military coup on May 16, 1961, andin October 1972, proposed the Yushin Constitution to solidify the foundationof his lifelong dictatorship. Following this, a national referendum on constitu-tional amendments took place on the 21st of November in 1972, with a 92%approval, resulting in the Park Chung-hee’s constitutional amendment. Thisstudy aims to examine the process of amending the Yushin Constitution andexplore the every day life in South Korea under the dictatorship of Park Chung-hee. Through this article, the author attempts to shed light on the often darklyportrayed life during that period, providing a more colorful perspective to thedaily lives of individuals suppressed by the dictatorship.
