Summary/Abstract: Both documents are letters that were sent from Poland in 1946 to friends in America. They concern the fate and experiences of the authors in the period immediately after World War II, talk about the mood both among Poles and among Jews. As the letters are of a strictly private nature, the statements contained in them constitute valuable, uncensored testimony of Polish-Jewish relations during that period. The first document (a set of three letters) comes from a private collection. Its author’s name remains unknown because she was hiding during the Nazi occupation in Warsaw using an alias and forged “Aryan” ID. Neither is anything known about the person to whom the letter was addressed. The second document comes from YIVO Archives in New York, it was written by Jakub Rozenberg, an activist of the Jewish Committee in Dzierżoniów, and addressed to prominent historian Jakub Szacki.
