Summary/Abstract: As emphasized in the explanatory memorandum of the legislative act, the main reason for adopting Emergency Ordinance no. 18/2016 is the transposition of certain European directives and the alignment of criminal procedural legislation with numerous decisions of the Constitutional Court, which have significantly altered the "physiognomy" of certain institutions, especially those of a novel character.
