Summary/Abstract: This study evaluates medical waste management software in terms of functionality, user interface, data security, regulatory compliance, and improvement recommendations. Using a literature review method, openaccess national and international studies published between 2015 and 2025 were analyzed. Findings indicate that current software significantly contributes to waste classification, record-keeping, cost management, and reporting processes, while issues such as standardization gaps, integration challenges, and insufficient user training limit their effectiveness. Additionally, technologies like barcode/QR-code tracking systems, IoT-based sensors, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence are identified as having strong potential to improve speed, accuracy, and sustainability in medical waste management. The results emphasize the need for software solutions that are fully compliant with regulations, user-friendly, secure, and regularly updated.
