Summary/Abstract: In the Academic year 2024/25, the Department of Music at the Faculty of Education of the University of Hradec Králové launched a research investigation aimed at identifying important aspects influencing the quality of the study process in terms of expectations and subsequent reflection and self-reflection in the area of musical skills. The aim of the paper is to evaluate the first phase of the investigation monitoring the expectations and initial self-reflection of students immediately after their entry into the first year of full-time study of the study programmes Teaching at Primary Schools and Teaching in Kindergartens.
