The Evolution of Computer-Related Fraud. Brief Considerations

Summary/Abstract: The article presents some hypotheses for committing the crime of computer-related fraud in the context of the development of information technology. Given the predominantly technical, but also novel nature of these hypotheses, in view of the difficulties already existing in doctrine and judicial practice regarding computer-related fraud, the article does not offer generally valid solutions, but displays certain situations upon which sooner or later doctrine and case law should reflect. In the first part, introductory aspects of the offence of computer related-fraud in Romanian criminal law are mentioned, and in the second part, two areas in the field of information technology which are of interest due to their specific features are considered.
