FUNCTIONS OF CONSTRUCTIONS WITH ЌЕ IN THE BORDER ZONE OF THE MACEDONIAN AND SERBIAN DIALECT AREA

Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the functions of constructions with the particle ќе (/auxiliary verb сака (velle)) used to express the conditional and potential in the Macedonian dialects of the entire northern zone of the Macedonian dialect area, as well as their corresponding forms in the Serbian border dialects of the Prizren–Timok area. It concerns the functions of the paradigms with the particle ќе in the dialects of these two neighbouring languages. Special attention is given to the degree in which the grammatical constructions with this particle have been restructured under the influence of Balkan non-Slavic languages, and to the differences between the Macedonian and Serbian neighbouring dialects.
