Summary/Abstract: The consumption of energy drinks has increased in recent years not only by young adults and athletes but also among children. At the same time, the potential health risks of excessive consumption are increasingly being investigated. Numerous studies show a significant prevalence of adverse effects, especially on the cardiovascular and neurovegetative systems. The aetiology of adverse effects is attributed to the neurostimulant properties of these drinks, the most important component of which is caffeine. Restricting the availability of these drinks to children and adolescents is one of the topics discussed not only in this country but also worldwide.
