Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in current and future police practice, in the context of increasing requirements for efficiency, security and analytical capabilities of law enforcement agencies. AI finds application in a whole range of areas – from predictive crime mapping to the automation of administrative processes to forensic analysis and crisis management. The text analyzes not only the practical benefits of technologies based on machine learning, such as the ability to quickly analyze large data sets or the identification of criminal patterns, but also draws attention to the risks associated with their implementation. Special attention is paid to the issues of personal data protection, algorithmic bias and the legislative lack of anchoring of AI in the security sector. The aim of the article is to offer a balanced view of the possibilities and limits of the integration of artificial intelligence into the police environment with an emphasis on ethics, transparency and responsibility.
