Summary/Abstract: With the academic work of Prof. Dr. Adnan Jahić, with his first important books, for example Muslim Formations of the Tuzla Region in the Second World War and Hikjmet – the Word of Traditional Ulema in Bosnia and Herzegovina, we are addressed by a serious methodology of historical sciences, a methodology that takes events into account, but approaches these events with analyses, syntheses, re-examinations, comparisons, multiple perspectives, criticism of sources, questions from the very core of historical science. Here, “our history”, as a narrated conglomerate of events, moves and transformatively steps towards “our history” as an adult profiled historical science, towards a mature historical science that becomes self-aware of itself, which analyzes, then connects, synthesizes, compares, criticizes and valorizes historical phenomena, events, ideas and opinions. It is precisely the works, but also the actions, of Prof. Dr. Adnan Jahić’s that testify that they are all that, and that they are not only spoken in university language, but they themselves simultaneously create that university language. Finally, there is no doubt that Adnan Jahić belongs to that generation of Bosnian and Herzegovinian historians who visibly and intelligently de-ideologize our dealings with history.
