Summary/Abstract: This article examines the impact of anti-Jewish legislation on professional soldiers in the Slovak army during World War II, specifically those whose wives were of Jewish origin. It explores the efforts of these soldiers to secure exemptions from anti-Jewish laws for themselves and their families, and analyzes the responses of the Ministry of National Defence and the Office of the President of the Republic to these requests. The study utilizes archival materials to detail the challenges faced by these individuals and the ambivalent stance of the Slovak authorities, highlighting the complexities of navigating wartime anti-Semitism within the military structure.
