Summary/Abstract: The author of the study set himself two goals: to present the methodology and theoretical justification of a research technique that has been used seven times at regular four-year intervals: for the first time in 1998 and most recently at the turn of 2022 and 2023. The procedure for selecting and sorting identifications (I-sort) was designed as a way of verifying the accuracy of statements formulated on the basis of less labor-intensive quantitative methods of measuring attitudes. The prospective longitudinal study was also intended to document the transformations of Polish society by monitoring changes in the prevalence of identifications among its members. The presentation of the most common identifications of the entire population serves to provide a background for describing the differences of Generation Z. Young residents of the country belonging to Generation Z differ from older generations in their significantly lower tendency to construct their self-image based on religious and denominational identifications, and they do not differ in terms of the prevalence of national and civic identifications. If these patterns continue in the future, we can expect to see a weakening of the Polish-Catholic dyad.
