Summary/Abstract: This article studies the potential of the inclusion of the religious studies class in the context of working with students with special needs and gifted children, with a focus on the Islamic religious education class in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Theoretical analysis and analysis of published texts and curricula were used along with interviews with religious studies teachers and experts in the field of inclusion, challenges, different approaches, and the prospect of applying the principles of inclusion to religious studies practice were analysed here. Results of this research show that religious studies classes, due to their ethical background and specific values, have provided adequate staff education, flexible curriculum, and systematic support, which have significant potential to adopt inclusive education goals. It stresses the need for a differentiated approach, setting tools for detecting gifted children and active inclusion of religious studies teachers in inclusion teams. In conclusion, it is stated that the article represents a contribution to theoretical and practical discourse about the role of religious studies education in contemporary inclusive education.
