Summary/Abstract: In this interview, translator Angela Bratsou discusses her work dedicated to promoting Romanian literature in Greece and Greek literature in Romania, focusing especially on her translation of Nicolae Dabija’s novel Temă pentru acasă into Greek (Η Βεσσαραβία μου: Μία εργασία για το σπίτι), published in 2022. The profound impact of the novel on Greek readers is highlighted, as they recognized in it universal themes such as love, suffering, memory, and freedom. The similarities between the experience of political repression and deportations in Bessarabia and in Greece, both of which, during a specific historical period, were under totalitarian regimes, are highlighted. The book received praise from the Greek literary critics and enjoyed a successful editorial trajectory, despite the challenges of launching it during the pandemic.
