Summary/Abstract: Mother Gavrilia was a true missionary of the Orthodox Church, who preached Christ with all her heart, both in word and especially in deed. Without a doubt, she was one of the most emblematic female personalities of Orthodox missionary work in the 20th century, perhaps even in the entire history of the Orthodox Church. Mother Gavrilia truly had a missionary calling not from man, but from the Living God Himself, who filled her heart with love and grace and she shared this grace with every person: “We must share the treasure that the Church has entrusted to us with every person we meet anytime, anywhere. Whether we are in Africa and must give our testimony through love and dedication, or whether we are in our native places... The quantity and quality of our love that we give everywhere are always important.” She loved and valued missionary work very much and prayed fervently that God would raise up worthy missionary workers who would share Christ with all nations: “May there be people who will continue the missionary work,” she often prayed.
