Summary/Abstract: The author synthesizes in this study several principles of Orthodox biblical hermeneutics, which he prefers to call „ecclesial” because of its organic connections with the whole doctrinal and practical edifice of the Church. The principles synthesized in the article are the results of the author’s studies of patristic exegesis for more than two decades. The importance of the present study lies in the fact that it brings together the guiding elements for the elaboration of a future Orthodox hermeneutics, a much-debated topic nowadays.
