Summary/Abstract: Every country and culture associates colors with different elements (prototypes, cogni-tive reference points). Prototypes are words that define a particular color, such as sky – blue, grass – green, blood – red. These categories may diverge when looking at different languages.Vocabulary and idioms related to colors are an interesting topic of analysis for comparative stud-ies, as they reveal both linguistic and cultural differences. The purpose of this analysis is to col-lect lexical definitions of colors (white, black, and red) and lexical comparisons involving colorsin Dutch, French, and Polish to determine the extent to which they are perceived similarly.
