THE WORD BRINGING THINGS INTO BEING IN MIRON BIAŁOSZEWSKI’S POEM ‘OUR FLOOR, BLESS US’

Summary/Abstract: This article traces the changes that took place in Polish literature after 1956. It outlines the characteristics of Polish linguistic poetry, which was an important part of the literature during that period. It examines the relationship between language and the world in the poem ‘Our Floor, Bless us’ by Polish writer Miron Białoszewski (1922–1983), one of the most prominent representatives of linguistic poetry. The article also analyzes the linguistic tools used to structure the work and tests the hypothesis that the methods and the image of language presented in the text can be thought of as giving rise to a new order of values that arose from the refusal to follow the ready-made truths that the prominent socialist ideology offered.
