Łukasz Ciepliński’s secret messages as an inspiration in upbringing toward values in the light of John Paul II’s Letter to Families 'Gratissimam sane'

Summary/Abstract: The article concentrates on the Steadfast Soldiers’ biographies, which can serve as an inspiration in upbringing toward higher values. The authors analyze the biography of Łukasz Ciepliński – one of the best known and most admired Steadfast Soldiers. Secret messages of the last five months of his life, spent in the death cell are particularly in focus. The objective of the research is to answer to the question – how to bring up offsprings deriving inspiration from Łukasz Ciepliński’s secret messages in the light of John Paul II’s letter Gratissimam sane. The author applies history-pedagogy biography method. The historical context of the analysis in the publication is the Stalinist period after WWII. The research is conducted on the basis of the guidelines described in the John Paul II’s letter to Families Gratissimam sane. Conclusions: Łukasz Ciepliński’s secret messages can serve as an inspiration toward upbringing in a family. In this process it is justified to implement the following guidelines: a) support for offsprings in their development toward sincere prayer; b) shaping a warm and mutually supporting relationship with a spouse, as children develop better when the parents love each other; c) giving the children ambitious but realistic goals in the spirit of love and faith; d) care for children in a multigenerational family which is able to form a good upbringing environment in case of death or disability of a parent; e) upbring children toward well being of not only the family but also the nation. Ciepliński’s priorities are consistent with the later John Paul II’s preaching formulated in the Letter to Families Gratissimam sane in which the Pope underlines the importance of upbringing in the spirit of great relationship between the people and participation in the historical-cultural heritage of the nation.
