Summary/Abstract: The article presents the philosophy of Catherine Malabou, the author of the concept of plasticity, still scarcely known in the Polish academic community. It is performed from a specific perspective: the question of the status of the human subject in contemporary capitalism. The first part focuses on the economic language used by the philosopher. The schema of two economies, actual and quasitranscendental, is discussed, including comments on Heidegger’s “ontological capitalism”. Part two of the article presents Malabou’s materialist, or more precisely neuronal and biological, concept of subjectivity. Here, economic themes are also presented, in particular the problem of “consciousness of the brain”, posed by Malabou, in the face of the present spirit of capitalism. The text concludes with a summary of the position of the human subject vis-à-vis the interconnected global economy, also indicating some doubts concerning Malabou’s ideas.
