Summary/Abstract: The security of seabed critical infrastructure, including underwater communication cables, energy pipelines, and offshore installations, is increasingly at risk due to evolving threats and technological advancements. Despite growing awareness of these vulnerabilities, existing protection strategies often lack a structured and integrated approach. The novelty of this article is represented by the introduction of a framework for safeguarding seabed critical infrastructure by systematically addressing threats, implementing a structured protection system, and leveraging emerging tech nologies. First, it identifies key threats and gives a categorisation of them. Next, it proposes a structured protection model that combines surveillance, deterrence, and rapid response mechanisms. Finally, it explores the integration of advanced technologies, such as unmanned underwater vehicles, AI-driven monitoring, and cyber-resilience strategies, to enhance protection efforts. By offering a comprehensive and structured approach, this article contributes to the ongoing discourse on maritime security and provides actionable insights for those interested.
