THE ESSENCE AND ORIGIN OF SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES

Summary/Abstract: Special economic zones, which can be found in many countries, are used to attract new investors. It has been said that if there were more effective ways of attracting investors it would not be necessary to create privileged areas in many countries in relation to the rest of their territory. In spite of including SEZs into a group of important factors which influence the regional development of Poland, their existence and rules of their functioning have been the subject of discussions in the negotiations with the European Union. The main object of this article is to present the essence and origin of special economic zones.
