Summary/Abstract: The liberal perspective claims that international actors will cooperate continuously to prevent war. On the other hand, realists argues that actors pursue their own interests to achieve outcomes regardless of their relationships. Also, in the same time, institutionalists suggests that international organizations have interests distinct from those of their member states. But, all of these cannot provide a long-term model for the consolidation of security and cohesion. Nevertheless, the current political reality and relatively recent studies have developed a new theory regarding the concept of security, which involves reimagining the global order through the concept minilateralism. According to this theory, close cooperation at a micro-level, involving fewer states, can be an efficient alternative for pursuing common interests compared to the actions of international organizations, which, according to doctrinal opinions based on various alliance models studied, are perceived as failing to address the realities on the ground. This paper will analyse the new forms of international cooperation, their emergence, and their functioning in relation to international security objectives. This study aims to analyse systematically, on the one hand, the security paradigm in the current security context and its manifestation at the global level, and on the other hand, from a theoretical perspective, the main char- acteristics of the concept of minilateralism and the possible responses this type of cooperation can offer to current and future security and defence threats and challenges.
