Summary/Abstract: The article explores the challenges faced by the Ukrainian humanities during the on-going Russo-Ukrainian War, as well as the responses that can be given to these challenges. Amongthe time-driven responses are: representing and understanding the war at the appropriate discursivelevel; deconstructing contemporary Russian narratives, forming and understanding Ukrainian nar-ratives about the war; destroying Russian imperial narratives on intellectual platforms outside thecountry; true understanding of the history of the Soviet period, including its late period, withoutwhich Ukrainian society is unable to overcome its post-Sovietness (collective resentment, feelings ofinferiority, personality split, compensatory search for “scapegoats”); creating a concept of a modernUkraine, which will emerge and be shaped on the basis of identity, creativity, technology, and effort.
