Summary/Abstract: The study is dedicated to the transformation of the religious and cultural "social field" in Bulgaria after the First World War and specifically to one of the conservative Orthodox formations that emerged at that time – "God and Bulgaria". Through the history of religions perspective and by attracting newly discovered sources, the present study aims: to supplement the known facts about the creation of this ideological circle and its liquidation by the communist government; to contextualize its development in political and cultural terms and in view of other religious formations from the late 1920s to the mid-1950s. The first part of the study focuses on the prerequisites for the emergence and the first personal and institutional manifestations of the circle.
