Summary/Abstract: Exceptio in Roman law was a legal remedy, part of the praetor's formula, which served as a specific kind of objection. This is also the reason why the term "objection" is used in educational courses and literature as a synonym for exceptio (due to the lack of a more accurate translation). Therefore, the purpose of this article is to note some key points regarding exceptio in the formulary procedure and the objection in modern civil law.
