Summary/Abstract: If the recognition of Gaspar’s work has crossed numerous geographical and linguistic borders, we cannot speak of the same success in Romania, where translations continue to be scarce, reception discreet, and the poet unknown. Ethnic and political factors have constituted a real obstacle to his recognition, and Gaspar’s assimilation, especially during the communist period, rather undertook the form of a dissimulation. Personal relationships based on common artistic and poetic affinities were the factors that mediated the transposition of Gaspar into Romanian, and at the time of the centenary it can be said that his reception in Romania has not yet taken place.
