Summary/Abstract: This article uses the "slow memory" approach to examine the pre-1989 migration of Roma from Czechoslovakia to the West, reconstructing the phenomenon through the memories of Romani witnesses. It analyzes how the migration process was remembered, described, and interpreted, addressing the under-researched nature of this topic in Romani and migration studies literature. The study employs oral history methods and the slow memory concept to focus on how Roma remember and interpret past sociocultural and political events. The findings reveal diverse motifs and descriptions with common elements, highlighting the roles of kinship, social networks, and Romani solidarity.
