Summary/Abstract: Compliance with prison subculture rules among juvenile prisoners is due to the fact that, until 2024, juveniles are detained in adult prisons, where they become familiar with elements of adult prison subculture. In turn, juvenile prisoners subsequently transferred to CDMT Goian initiated and continue to initiate new juvenile prisoners into the rules and traditions of adult prisoners. The spread of prison subculture is one of the main functions of the ‘thieves in law’, achieved through ‘supervisors’ appointed from among the prisoners.
