Summary/Abstract: Preparing school learners for family lives is a constituent part of education, which embraces conveyance of different scientific knowledge, the ability to apply it in various situations in real life and development of attitudes towards the family that would be acceptable to the society. Sexual education must not promote early sexual relations or bring any physical harm to children. It is of great importance that development of critical thinking, fostering positive self-evaluation and creating an open atmosphere of mutual learner-teacher-parent reliance at school can help to solve problems important for the youth and to contribute to development of strong will and moral values as well as to preparation of a young person for his / her future family life. Sexual education is finally characterised as development of values. With regard to the above factors, it is a must for strategic decision makers and administrators of education to pay attention to youth education initiatives based on ethical imperatives. Such initiatives should be openly directed towards the modern reality and inoculate critical experience related with contemplation about it. The aim of the research was to investigate the educational impact of the sexual education programme "Cross Road" on schoolchildren's attitudes towards moral values. The object of the research was adolescents' attitudes towards moral values. The methods applied in this research were pedagogical experiment, questionnaire for pupils, statistical and empirical data analysis (absolute and percentage frequency) and chi-square calculation performed using SPSS PC/8.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) computet software. The results of the research and the conclusions: - Sexual education should be based on a holistic understanding of a personality. It should not be separated from a person's evaluative orientation. - The sexual education programme, "Cross Road", has a positive impact in developing matute sexual attitudes: it is a factor promoting pupils' positive attitudes towards moral values. Greater educational impact of the programme on moral value development was achieved in the case of gitl pupils. - More than half of the research participants from the control and experimental groups have enumerated faithfulness and devotion as an important personality ttait of their friends. The experimental group members have more often indicated desirable and the most impottant character traits of their friends like respect, similar understanding of the truth and intelligence, while those for the control group members were joy, physical attractiveness and sexuality. Self-sacrifice, generosity and patience are not treated as good personality traits while choosing a friend.
