The Inheritance of the Efendigil Family of Harputlu An Unknown Nedîm Diwan and Nedîm's Elif-nâme

Summary/Abstract: The Efendigil family of Harput, whose roots date back to the 16th century, made significant contributions to history, culture and literature, and many scholars, saints and poets came out of this family. One of the valuable services of the Efendigil family was the patronage of the Yusuf Kâmil Paşa Library. Mufti Kemâleddin and his son Ömer Naîmî Efendigil were instrumental in the preservation of thousands of manuscripts and printed works, many of which are unique copies. This library, today known as the Efendigil Collection, was donated to the Ankara University Faculty of Theology Library in 1972. However, due to the lack of adequate cataloging and classification work, many famous works were lost or recorded under the wrong name. One of the important works condemned to dusty shelves due to lack of attention is the subject of this article. The manuscript in question is a divan recorded in the name of Ahmed Nedîm (1681-1730), a famous poet of the 18th century. This manuscript, which consists of an Arabic and Turkish diwan, was previously identified as belonging to another unknown Nedîm. There is no information on the 92-page diwan, whose author is not known, such as a record of the manuscript. In our study, the Turkish diwan of the unknown Nedîm, which consists of 127 verses, 112 of which are ghazals, between 38b-90b, has been emphasized and the elifnâme masnawi of 29 couplets at the beginning of his diwan has been analyzed and transliterated into new letters.
