Summary/Abstract: The aim of the investigation was to analyse peculiarities of the link between suicidal ideation and attitudes towards suicide among futute teachers. 362 students of Vilnius Pedagogical University (82.9% of them being women and 17.1% men) participated in the survey. A questionnaire based on the work by N. Zemaitiene (2000) was used for investigation of the attitudes towards suicide and the intensity of suicidal ideation. The results of the research supported the hypothesis that there was a direct link between the intensity of suicidal ideation and positive attitude to suicide among students of Vilnius Pedagogical University (r = 0.166, p = 0.01). The results received indicate that as approval of suicide increased so did die frequency of future teachers susceptible to suicidal risk. The greatest number (76.7%) of future teachers who did not agree with idea that the human had a choice of living or talcing his/het life was found among students of theology, whereas the smallest number (45.5%) of students sharing such an attitude was found among those who studied home economics. The majority of future teachers (84%) denied that there were situations in one's lite when suicide was the only way out. The frequency of respondents who did not approve of suicide in the group of religious students was higher (50.2%) than that in the group of non-religious students (28.2%).
