Summary/Abstract: This study examines the relationship between uncontrolled anger, which is one of the fundamental problems faced by modern societies, and religiosity. Anger, which is one of the triggers of aggression and violence, can lead to serious problems at both individual and societal levels when not controlled. Today, cases of murder and injury caused by uncontrolled anger are frequently encountered in the media. Anger management has critical importance in preventing violent behaviors. Religion is one of the most important phenomena that controls human emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Religions help control anger and aggressive behaviors by instilling feelings of patience, empathy, compassion, tolerance, conscience, and self-control through their beliefs and rituals. In this context, our research is important in terms of revealing the effect of religion on anger control. The main problem of the research is to examine the relationship between anger control and religiosity. The secondary problems of the research are to examine the relationships between age, gender, marital status, occupation variables, and anger control and religiosity. The research sample consists of 1166 participants with different demographic characteristics living in Erzurum city center. The Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale and the Intrinsic Religious Motivation Scale were used as data collection tools. Correlation, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and simple regression methods were used for data analysis. As a result of the analysis of the research findings, a significant positive relationship was found between intrinsic religious motivation and anger control. This result shows that religiosity has a positive effect on anger control. In analyses with demographic variables, it was determined that age, gender, marital status, and occupation factors have significant effects on both anger control and intrinsic religious motivation levels. Research findings show that religiosity leads to positive effects on individuals' self-discipline and self-control skills, thereby supporting social harmony and peace. These results reveal that religious and spiritual values can be considered as an effective tool in individuals' emotional regulation skills and in solving social problems.
