Summary/Abstract: This study explores the most favorable methods for teaching the imperfect tense toforeign students who come to study at the University of Craiova in the preparatoryyear of the Romanian language. We analyze the difficulties they encounter, particularly those who are not native speakers of Romance languages. Teachingthis tense combines traditional methods (e.g., lectures, didactic exposition, guideddiscussions) with modern techniques (e.g., educational games, interactive apps)and personalized teaching adapted to the students’ native languages. For example, students who speak Romance languages learn the imperfect tense more easily dueto the presence of an equivalent tense in their own language, while Asian andArabic language speakers need more explanations and contextual examples. Toincrease student engagement and reduce the fear of making mistakes we usedinteractive methods, such as role-playing and image comparison. For evaluation wechose online tests, conducted on platforms like Google Classroom, which providequick feedback and help students with continuous learning.
