Summary/Abstract: The reform of education is changing attitudes tovvards studies in the higher education sphere. According to this the role of a library is changing from that of an organisation's provisional service to becoming an important part of information infrastructure. The library becomes an active participant producing impact on the learning process and forming the professional values of future physical educators. Traditional functions of the library, such as acąuisition, storage and lending, are supplemented with additional functions, such as information services for the communky, user education, management of information, etc. In the spotlight of a modern library there are information services and creation of a learning environment in the library. JThe university library is trying to produce a student empowering learning environment. To achieve this goal, the library has to provide competency, materials and psychological conditions. The ąuality of these conditions has impact on forming future physical educators' professional values.
