Summary/Abstract: Gender is increasingly recognized today as an important part of social stratification in all societies and cultures. Despite the development of technology and modernization in our society, we can still identify unwritten rules of acceptable behavior for men and women. Since the education system can be one of the key factors in determining inequalities in society, the aim of this research is to examine the attitudes of future educators regarding gender relations in the educational process. The research is based on the understanding of gender as a culturally conditioned concept. The awareness of future female educators, students of undergraduate and graduate studies in preschool education at the University of Mostar, regarding gender equality in early and preschool education, as well as their interest in the issue of gender equality in society, was investigated. The results of this research show that future educators express gender-egalitarian attitudes concerning the roles of men and women in society and demonstrate relatively high awareness of gender equality in the field of early and preschool education. Nevertheless, there is still room in our society to encourage the development of a more gender-egalitarian perspective, especially regarding the need for further consideration of pedagogical practice in institutions for early and preschool education.
