Summary/Abstract: In this study, Charles Dickens' “A Christmas Carol” is analyzed through the meaning loads of character symbols in the context of death anxiety, existence, and property greed, which are the main problems of the modern age and modern age people. A Christmas Song is Dickens' famous work which is counted among children's classics. The main character Scrooce is a wealthy businessman. She is very strict with the people she works with, her family members and everyone who lives in the distance. Despite his wealth, Scrooge, who constantly calculates money and makes money the center of his life by making it his core value, begins to experience extraordinary events that will allow him to confront himself on a Christmas day. He finds it absurd to spend time with relatives on Christmas night or to help people in need, or to help him or her to spend the day happily by giving the employee enough time. But that night, he confronts something that will allow him to deny all those situations he furiously defends; death. The ghost of his partner who dies on Christmas night visits him. The confrontation with death causes Scrooce to start thinking about all of the material rush. For the first time, he realizes that every moment of life is a valuable thing that must have meaning. After this stage, the relationship with property, relationship with people, and the way they look at life undergo a major change. What makes Scrooce change is to live with spiritual values above material rushes, and how the ghost of his partner spends his life on him; It is realized by showing that it is meaningless and does not produce value in material flurries. It can be said that the work contains important messages about materialism, the relations that produce the capitalist cycle, the ambition of money and the lost spiritual values and moral collapse which have become the characteristics of the modern era in general. In the same way, the work includes emphasis on how modern man can change the cycle that created this characteristic, thus underlining that the alienated cycle of the modern capitalist era based on monetary relations can be overcome. The study ıncludes tecnic of literature socıology and it has been emphasis on its characters meaning and the dicotomoy of each other.
