Summary/Abstract: In the field of environmental protection, access to information is a fundamental element for taking appropriate measures both in terms of greening and carrying out economic activity in optimal conditions. It is an expression of transparency and good faith in an area of vital interest for future generations. The paper will analyze the importance of access to information of public interest in environmental issues, especially in the case of insolvent companies. It will also discuss relevant aspects of the Aarhus Convention on Access to Environmental Information and its counterpart national legal provisions. Equally, the role of national public authorities in managing environmental information will be considered, but also the way of communicating it upon request.
