Summary/Abstract: The most important feature of folk beliefs is that they are the product of the collective unconscious. Folk beliefs, which continue their existence by being passed down from generation to generation, are usually shaped by people's fears, hopelessness or trust and expectations. Folk beliefs, which have a very important place in evaluating society as a whole, can be examined in many social, cultural, psychological, mythical and even political contexts. Birth, marriage and death are called transition periods. Although transition periods occur in a similar way, they have traditions that vary from society to society. These traditions are shaped by the collective unconscious of society. Many practices and beliefs related to birth-related traditions are integrated with the value judgments of the society. Continuing the lineage is an important acceptance in Turkish culture. In this context, beliefs and practices related to birth are treated sensitively. The basic elements of rituals and beliefs related to birth are symbols. A ritual and belief can be passed on to the next generations through symbols. These symbols, which are the basis of birth rituals, are loaded with mythical data. In this article, birth-related beliefs and practices collected from Çankırı were examined from a mythical symbolic perspective. Thus, it was tried to shed light on the place and importance of the relevant practices and beliefs in society.
