Summary/Abstract: In this article we will present the main ways in which researchers from different disciplines can cooperate in carrying out scientific studies. To begin with, we will show the premises that were the basis of the increasingly accelerated process of interaction between various fields of science, which until a few decades ago had clearly defined borders and carried out research located only between these limits. Then, we will analyse the main forms of cooperation and integration, namely multi‑, inter‑ and transdisciplinarity, showing the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of each of them. We will conclude with a general assessment of the current situation and obstacles regarding the cooperation and integration of scientific disciplines in research.
