Summary/Abstract: Agricultural production activities in Gördüs District, whose economic structure in the 16th century has not been examined comprehensively before, are the subject of our study. The main sources of the study are Register Books. We can divide the agricultural products grown in the region into four main sections: cereals, legumes, industrial plants and fruits and vegetables. In the 16th century, grain production in Gördüs District, as in many regions of the Ottoman Empire, ranked first in terms of quantity. Especially wheat and barley were produced in a very wide area in parallel with the needs of the Ottoman Society. Grain tithe revenues are also much higher than other tithe revenues. As a matter of fact, the share of grain tithes in the district's tithe revenues is close to 70%. It is understood that the timar system was implemented in Gördüs District during this period and the income obtained from agricultural production had a large share in this system. For example, tithe revenues from agricultural products had a share of around 45% in the total revenues of the district in the first half of the century and 65% in the second half of the century. Among the pulses, chickpeas, among the industrial plants, cotton and dyeing plants, and in the fruit and vegetable group, grapes and orchards are by far ahead in terms of production amounts and tithe income. It is determined that there was an inflation movement in the region in the second half of the century and that the unit prices of agricultural products were also affected by this and their prices increased by around 20% to 33%.It is certain that this has a negative economic impact on the people of the region.
