Summary/Abstract: Based on an analysis of the identified materials, a consideration was made of measures to strengthen the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation in response to the growing threat from the East. With this circumstance in mind, the aim of this study is to identify and analyse the essence of strengthening the described part of NATO. The main research problem is an attempt to answer the question: what activities and actions the Alliance undertakes within the framework of increasing its presence in Eastern Europe. The article hypothesises that NATO is constantly conducting regular acti- vity to prevent the outbreak of conflict between the Alliance countries and the Russian Federation. The research methodology was based on a critical analysis of the literature, as well as inference, synthesis, generalisation and comparison. The research confirmed the view that the primary purpose of the Pact is to deter a potential aggressor, clearly identified and defined. The adversary’s awareness that the undertakings of several states are a clear and coherent message requires the importance of effort, and creating this in times of crisis further enhances this effort. This can be achieved with continuous planning and coordination of policies, capabilities and concepts.
