Summary/Abstract: The text analyses Maria Doneva’s book “The Animals” (2019), which contains short stories and poetry. To a great extent the book refutes the common characteristics, clichés, and idioms often used for animals. Maria Doneva presents a new viewpoint toward the animal world, as an amalgam of human and animal characteristics. This is the enriching child’s view of the animal world – nontraditional and nonsensical.
