Summary/Abstract: Marriage in Kabylia has undergone profound socio-anthropological transformations in recent decades, influenced both by internal factors – such as family dynamics and women’s emancipation – and by external pressures related to globalization and legislative changes. Among the Kabyle, nuptial rituals – ancient and rich in symbolic meaning—oscillate between positive practices aimed at attracting blessings (e.g., propitiatory sacrifices, henna ceremonies) and ritual prescriptions of prohibition (ḥaram). This research adopts an interdisciplinary approach to analyze the full set of rites that punctuate the marital journey – from betrothal to the wedding feast – highlighting their social, symbolic, and identity-forming functions within the Kabyle community.
