Study of the patent activity of the Balkan countries, carried out in the period 2014-2023

Summary/Abstract: In this paper, we aim to study the patent activity (number of patents filed and granted) of the countries of the Balkan Peninsula. Patent activity testifies to the evolution of the technological development process in the research period from 2014 to 2023 and is an indicator of the research capacity for the creation of modern technologies. By using empirical methods, we establish the structure and dynamics of patent activity and outline the leading technological areas in which there is the highest concentration of patent rights. In conclusion, we present recommendations to stimulate the inventive activity of individual countries
