Summary/Abstract: The modern city of Plovdiv, the successor of the ancient Philippopolis, is the second largest city in Bulgaria and one of the oldest cities in Europe. The city is strategically located at the crossroads between Europe and Asia Minor, in the center of the Thracian Plain around seven unique hills.
