Summary/Abstract: Contemporary threats to the natural environment due to atmospheric aerosols, including biological ones, are presented. The filtration process and practical solutions for the protection of the respiratory system against aerosols are characterized. The paper presents the results of tests on a flat filter card-board and a filter used in military gas filters for gas masks
