Summary/Abstract: Serious research on populism notes the diffuse semantics of the term. The present study aims to reconstruct the meaning of the lexeme populism by establishing its semantic components based on the media uses of the word. The processing of texts from a large-scale media corpus is carried out using text corpus analysis software and a set of automatic processing tools. When analyzing the collocations of the word populism in a broader textual context, several meanings with which it exists in the media space are outlined. Outlining the meanings with which the word populism is used in media publications in Bulgarian will reduce the risk of misinterpretations, disinformation and other communicative abuses.
